Theatre in the Park

FOR THE 2020 SEASON, OUR OUTDOOR SUMMER THEATRE WILL NOT FUNCTION IN THE SAME WAY IT HAS FOR OVER 35 YEARS. Please bear with us as we continue to plan our 2020 Outdoor Summer Theatre season. Check back here or our Facebook page for updates & more information.

The Calithumpians have been performing in downtown Fredericton’s Officers’ Square for over three decades. Our Theatre-in-the-Park performances have become a staple of summer life in downtown Fredericton. Each season the company produces four shows, based on historical themes or social issues, which run in repertory daily from Canada Day to Labour Day, with performances taking place at 12:15 on weekdays and at 2:00 on weekends and holidays. The performances are family-oriented and are intended for both visitors and locals, providing an array of entertaining and educational shows featuring music and comedy. The shows are written collaboratively by the performers themselves using our unique form of collective creation. The troupe follows a tradition of adapting material from various sources: folklore, literature, history, pop culture and local humour.

"To be a Calithumpian, you had to make a fool of yourself in the park, as opposed to making a fool of yourself in the legislature."

Peter, I heard soooo many good things about your performances - Congratulations! ...Thanks for offering these shows at the New Brunswick Museum.

I enjoyed the play today. Lots of talent and energy! ... Issues around water is one of our topics. We were wondering if the Calithumpians could put on "H20" for the class and have it open to the rest of the university community as well. I think that the play would work well on campus. I hope your troupe would be able to come.
