Job Postings - Calithumpians 2021-22 Season!

The Calithumpians are seeking eligible candidates for several positions within the company for our 2021-22 "School Year" Season. Although we don't expect to tour to schools across the province as we did before the COVID-19 Pandemic, we do expect to collaborate closely with some schools, in addition to creating educational online content for use in schools across the province and facilitating various virtual workshops with classes and groups. We're also planning for various events such as October Haunted Hikes, special shows around Remembrance Day and the holiday season in December, through to Frostival in the New Year, and more.

We are seeking candidates for: Museum Theatre Animator, and Museum Theatre Assistant Director & Museum Theatre Assistant Company Manager.

 

Museum Theatre Animator Internship

Located in Fredericton’s Historic Downtown and touring to NB Parks, Museums and Schools this position pays $15 per hour and runs for approximately 28 weeks. The start and end date may depend on candidates’ availability.

Candidates are eligible for an internship if they: are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada; are legally entitled to work in Canada; are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program; are unemployed or underemployed; are a college or university graduate; and are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while employed with the program.

 

This job is a wonderful opportunity for someone with an interest in theatre, education and cultural history that wants to improve their skills in research, writing, performing and presenting. A museum theatre animator brings history and culture to life through interpretive tours, performance and conducting workshop activities with children and adults.

 

Candidates should have superior communications and people skills. Experience in theatre and education plus working with children and/or tourists would be assets. In addition, knowledge of, or interest in, Canadian civics, local history, music, drama or storytelling are preferable.

 

Candidates will be required to audition in order to demonstrate their skills relative to acting, improvisation and performance; abilities with music, both singing and playing an instrument are desirable.

The successful candidates will act either as an Assistant Director or Assistant Company Manager and will be monitored and coached through various aspects of running a multifarious theatre company.  

 

This is a rare chance to improve your skills in research, writing, leading, directing and also management.  Our Museum Theatre Company brings history and culture to life through guided tours, performance, and workshop activities with children and adults and the assistant director and assistant company manager will be immersed in all of these and learn aspects of arts administration throughout their placement.

Candidates will be required to audition in order to demonstrate their skills, experience and creativity relative to the position. They will also be required to complete and present an assignment relative to the position for which they are applying.
